Group versus live events

These are actually two different products!

A group is very different from a live event but a group is often created first to then launch events within that group.

My goal is to create events, not groups.

At this stage at least, simply having agroup online without the live events is simply geared towards virtual activities.

On top of that, taking a group live and maintaining this line of action requires consistency. You can't build up a live group, spend months doing that and simply shut down activity for 6 months because you take off.

This is why live events seems to be the target and product to promote!

It could very well be that to create a live event, I can use the group system and promote to that audience as well.

The two of them could be linked or live events should funtion by themselves without group creation.

When I check the size of the active groups out there, they often count 0 to 50 members.

It is very rare to have a group on meetup for instance that counts more than that.

That's the type of virtual group size you get afte probably months of presence and effort.

Again, live events is the real traget you want to reach.

live events... - Should I launch a group on Youtube?

Looks like youtube is NOT for groups.

When searching for groups, the search option and possibilities are very limitted!

Youtube is for vids! Not live events or groups.

When launching audios, my main channel was Itunes!

When launching vids, my main channel to reach my audience was Youtube.

Now, for launching live events, I guess that my main channel won't have anything to do with the channels I used previously either for vids or audios.

It's probably going to be something different I haven't touched yet!

Promotional avenues for live events

At this stage, here are some possible directions to launch, set up and advertise an event:
  • Local papers
  • Launch a new meetup group (these groups seem to have very little number of members...) or tribe group
  • Launch a new event and advertise it on meetup, tribe, craigslist, Youtube, etc
  • Word of mouth - talk about it with people you meet and see if they are open for an event
  • Offer to animate an existing group or community - search for groups who could be a target audience for what you have to offer
  • Find someone who sets it up for you
  • Etc

Going live!

At this stage though, I do miss the right channel to promote and reach my audience.

This channel/method/format/pricing/target probably already exists but I haven't manifested it yet.

This is probably my greatest and most important target for the coming few months.

Other targets involve:

  • Personal skills development
  • Sirajala development
  • Etc

what happened in the last year - Here are some results!

In terms of sales and coaching sign ups, things are steady.

This is not where the major shift happened!

The major shift has to do with videos and impact of my coaching.

The average number of people touched every day by what I offer went from around 2000/day to 5000/day through the videos (especially Youtube)

This means that over a year close to 2 million people are exposed to my coaching which is really excellent!

In the last few months I slowed down the posting of vids simply to reorient my strategy.

As mentioned in a previous post, the new direction could be going live.

Another key development in that year associated with these vids posting is the fact that I have now the skill to simply talk live with no script on about any of these topics.

The progress has been from writing to audio to video and the natural next step would be live.

It could be! It makes sense!

The communication style I developped on video over the last year really works!

yes! it could be better! yes! It can improve! yes, the settings can change!

But overall I am happy about it at 80%

I am thrilled by the power boost messages contained in them.

This is real solid content with solid life strategies that give a battle plan to so many people looking for solutions!

Yes! It works!

New strategies - live events - oct 2008

the next stage is to test and launch live events.

This is one of the possible lines of eveolution for my activity.

Until now, 90% of my activity is virtual it means that my coaching is delivered via the internet in the form of videos, audios, e-books, etc.

A part of my impact is coaching by phone.

Now, the live event direction has been explored in the past with some success.

Live coaching in Paris, Dubai.

Outdoor magic in the Alps.

Vitality on the beach in the Netherlands.

All these worked to a certain extent but one key element was still missing:

A format or way of doing which is easy to reproduce without major effort.

Right now, this has a massive potential but has not yet been explored because other lines were flowing more easily.

Now is the time to test and see if going live is the way to go in the future. This could be a new card to ad to my skills and the way I promote and transmit my coaching.

Events could small groups or the live aspect could still be one on one coaching.

The events can take the two directions: free or fee - of course the fee could give long term stability to this new product.

It could as well be simply a spiritual transmission line which is based on a different set of dynamics around yoga, tantra for instance.

All doors are open at this stage.

One of the limiting factors in the past has been marketing the event and reaching enough people.

Location was an issue as well with for instance the outdoor live events in the Alps with the weather challenges.

The topics for the events have been relatively vague as well...

So for future events, here is what comes to mind - here is what is needed:
  • Target for the event very clear - audience and demand must be present!
  • Right pricing - even if it happens to be free! - It has to be adapted to what people can afford and as well give me enough momentum to easily present these events over and over again without limitation
  • Right location! - an potential audience must be present where I offer these events - Being in the right place to propose these events is crucial!

This last one might be realigned in the coming few months
